A former bank manager who pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $5 million from a bank branch she managed in southwest Ohio has been sentenced to 5½ years in prison.
Amy Scarpelli was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Dayton.
Prosecutors have said the former manager of a U.S. Bank branch in Miamisburg used the money for gambling, cars and motorcycles.

Scarpelli's attorney, Dennis Gump, says his client told the judge prior to sentencing that she has taken responsibility for her actions. The defense maintained that she had a gambling addiction and sought a four-year sentence. Gump says there's been no decision on whether to appeal the sentence.
The judge also ordered restitution of $5.2 million.
Scarpelli pleaded guilty last year to embezzling over four years.
