A defrocked Catholic priest and convicted child molester is expected in court after being arrested for a sex crime that authorities say occurred in 2005.

Police say Daniel McCormack was arrested Wednesday at a state facility in Rushville. He was arrested on a warrant for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child and is to appear in Cook County bond court Thursday.

It's unclear if he has a lawyer.

McCormack pleaded guilty in 2007 to abusing five children and was sentenced to five years in prison. He was removed from the priesthood.

A Chicago Archdiocese spokeswoman said she's unaware of McCormack's arrest.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests says in a statement that McCormack is one of Illinois' "most egregious predator priests."
