Denver police cite lack of communication in woman's death while on phone with 911 dispatcher

DENVER – Denver police say a lack of communication between a dispatcher and officers responding to an emergency call may have contributed to the death of a woman who was shot while on the phone with police dispatchers.

An internal review released Friday says the patrol officers' response was reasonable and appropriate, given the limited information a dispatcher gave them. The report says the dispatcher had information that should have been given to the responding officers about the possibility of escalating violence.

Police said Friday that unspecified discipline is pending against the dispatcher.

Murder charges have been filed against 47-year-old Richard Kirk, who's accused of killing 44-year-old Kristine Ann Kirk on April 14.

Kirk was shot to death 12 minutes into her 911 call to police.
