CVS pharmacy tech charged with 20 counts of identity theft
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A 22-year-old pharmacy technician faces numerous counts of identity theft after he was accused of stealing credit card information from customers at a Nashua CVS.
Police say Bounhange Tang, 22, took photos of credit cards from 20 different customers at the pharmacy on Daniel Webster Highway and then looked up the customers’ addresses in the CVS computer system. He then used the information to order items online and resell them, according to police.
“It’s appalling,” CVS customer Pamela Blotcky said. “That’s all I can say. Wow.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Campus police at Tang’s school, UMass Lowell, uncovered what is being called an “ongoing fraudulent scheme” that took place from June to December 2016.
"UMass Lowell police worked collaboratively with Nashua police on this matter. While we cannot comment on individual cases, any student accused of a crime is also subject to discipline under the UMass Lowell student code of conduct," a statement from the university said.
Tang now faces 20 counts of identity theft, which each count carrying a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. His bail was set at $50,000 during his arraignment.
