Authorities in southwest Florida say a car theft suspect tried to chew his fingerprints off in an apparent attempt to avoid identification.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies stopped a stolen 2015 Mercedes in Lehigh Acres, about 20 miles east of Fort Myers, last week. They found that the driver had a fake ID, a concealed firearm and three fraudulent credit cards.
Deputies put the driver in the back of a patrol vehicle. Video shows the man chewing his fingertips and rubbing them against the vehicle's cage. Despite his efforts, a fingerprint scanner identified the man as 20-year-old Kenzo Roberts and showed two felony warrants for him out of Broward County.

Roberts remains in jail, facing multiple charges. Detectives also contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection and learned that Roberts is in the country illegally.
