OGDEN, Utah – Nine Utah high school cheerleaders were suspended after allegedly participating in a hazing ritual where a girl with a peanut allergy was covered in peanut butter.
Fox 13 reports 14 incoming members of the Ogden High School cheer squad were reportedly told they were invited to a party to celebrate earning a spot on the team. Instead, the girls were blindfolded and taken to a nearby park.
Ogden School District spokeswoman Donna Corby told The Associated Press the girls were told to do push-ups and sit-ups while the senior girls pelted them with ketchup, mustard, peanut butter and pickle juice. They then were forced to strip to their underwear to get sprayed off.
The girl with the allergy reportedly suffered a minor allergic reaction. The school district is now investigating the incident.
