A southern California man was being held in jail on $1 million bail Tuesday after allegedly holding his stepson's head underwater during a swimming lesson, nearly drowning him.
Police said Jacqorie Stansell, 21, was trying to teach the seven-year-old boy to swim at around 7:00pm local time Sunday in the public pool at an apartment complex in Palmdale, Los Angeles County, KTLA-TV reported.
He told investigators he became frustrated when his stepson was not learning as quickly as he would have liked, and held the boy's head underwater several times, for as long as 15 seconds at a time.
