WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. – Police say a tour bus that flipped over on an upstate highway and left 30 people with mostly minor injuries was mainly carrying tourists from Poland.
Binghampton state police Sgt. William Ramsing says 14 people were treated and released a hospital after the Wednesday night accident. They included a woman who was trapped beneath the bus.
The accident was the latest in a string of bus crashes in the Northeast this year.
It occurred during a downpour on Interstate 81 in a southbound lane near Whitney Point, a scenic village of about 1,000 residents. The bus sat in the ditch on its roof with its wheels in the air.
