A Manhattan couple got a bombshell surprise when they moved into their apartment on the Lower East Side Monday.
They discovered a large military-style rocket in the closet as they were settling into their new pad at around 7 p.m., according to police.
They called cops after they found the large green explosive, but NYPD bomb-squad personnel quickly determined that the rocket was inactive and posed no threat.
The man who lives there was relieved to find the bomb was a dud, telling a Post reporter that it “was big.”
The couple found the rocket in their second-floor apartment on East Broadway near Jefferson Avenue, cops and neighbors said.
Police said they searched the apartment and took the dud. There was no indication of criminality, and no arrests were made.
