Authorities in Northern California search for missing man who was canoeing in bay

Authorities in Northern California are searching Tuesday morning for a missing man who was canoeing with two others in the bay.

Fire officials were called around 10:30 p.m. Monday after three people failed to return from an afternoon canoeing trip.

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search-and-rescue effort and heard cries for help at around 1 a.m. Tuesday near Oyster Point, south of San Francisco.

KRON reports (http://bit.ly/1zKZGmW ) that the Coast Guard rescued a 22-year-old woman who was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Nearly an hour later, crews pulled a 54-year-old unresponsive man from the water. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, and his name wasn't released.

The 22-year-old man who remains missing was wearing a life jacket.
