Alabama man sentenced in fatal shooting at doctor's office

A man who fatally shot his wife at a central Alabama doctor's office has been sentenced to prison.

Multiple media outlets report that Eric Heath Price was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison in the death of his 24-year-old wife Leaj Jarvis Price.

Investigators have said Price fatally shot his wife after she fled to a doctor's office near their home in Jemison on April 13, 2015. Officials have said the two had been involved in a domestic dispute.

Price then barricaded himself inside their house for hours and shot himself in the head but survived.

Price pleaded guilty to murder in Chilton County as his trial was slated to begin in mid-April. Three counts of making terroristic threats were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
