9/11 Fire Truck Lowered Into Exhibition Space for Memorial Museum
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A fire truck used to rescue people from the north tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11 was lowered Wednesday into exhibition space for the National September 11 Memorial Museum.
The truck from the New York City Fire Department's Ladder Co. 3, which helped evacuate people from the north tower, was lowered 70 feet into the site on Wednesday afternoon, MyFoxNY.com reports.
The fire truck had been smashed and partially burned and the rig spent the past 10 years in a hangar at John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to the New York Post.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Nearly 3,000 people were killed during the 2001 terrorist attack. The memorial plaza opens to the public on Sept. 12, a day after the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack. The museum will open next year.
