3 dead in Phoenix murder-suicide

A man believed to have fatally shot two young girls and then himself on Sunday was the father of the children, Phoenix police said.

A 36-year-old man and a 5-year-old girl were pronounced dead in the west Phoenix home and a 4-year-old girl died at a hospital, authorities said.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said a woman called police late Sunday night to say she was concerned about the welfare of her ex-husband and their two daughters. Another person called police to report shots being fired.

Fortune said officers believe the man shot the girls before killing himself.

No identities were released.
