3 dead, Houston rapper injured in shooting outside nightclub

A mother-of-three and a popular local rapper were among the victims of a shootout outside a Houston nightclub that left three dead and two hospitalized early Wednesday morning, myFOXhouston.com reported.

Hundreds ran for cover when bullets started flying following a rap concert outside Club Blue in southwest Houston.

Houston Police have not yet identified a suspect or motive, but community activists told myFOXhouston.com that it was thought the gunman was trying to settle a vendetta.

Erica Dotson, 29, a mother-of-three, was killed in the crossfire as she walked home from the store.

"Erica was taking care of her mother who's ill, and she has three girls. She had a big responsibility," said Sylvia Price, Dotson's aunt.

The other deceased victims, both men, have not been publicly identified by authorities.

Hundreds are believed to have witnessed the shooting. They were there following a concert by Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth. The rapper, whose real name is Frazier Thompson III, was shot in the shoulder.

Friend Joshua Francis later tweeted a picture of Trae with the caption, "Everybody TRAE is OK. Minor gunshot wound."

It is not the first time a Trae Tha Truth event has ended in violence. Three years ago six people were shot at a concert on the campus of Texas Southern University.
