Multi-tasking musician Moby recently released a book of photography along with his new album “Destroyed”, so it’s likely he has that camera along with him to document his travels when he’s taking some time for himself. The low-key superstar tells FoxNews.com Travel where he likes to go when he’s not hanging out on the "South Side."

What is your favorite place to go on vacation?

I'm afraid my answer is going to be very obvious. My favorite place on the planet, well I have a lot of favorite places, but one of my favorite places is New Zealand. But my fear is that every person you talk to is going to give that answer, because New Zealand is so beautiful and so I just don't want to give a cliché answer.

What’s so special about it?

New Zealand is such an interesting place because there are two islands, there's a north island and a south island. And the north island is sort of sub-tropical, it's like big tropical plants, but it's really empty, like surprisingly empty. It has these long, beautiful black sand volcanic beaches that are about a half a mile wide and like ten miles long that are just empty. With rolling surf, and warm water, it's so beautiful. And then you go to the south island which looks like Switzerland. That's why they shot the Lord of the Rings there, because they could shoot all the weird sub-tropical stuff on the north island, and then the weird alpine stuff on the south island.

What do you do you when you’re there?

I just drive around and swim, especially on the north island. The beaches -- and I'm not much of a beach person, clearly I don't tan that much -- but the beaches up north, they’re just so beautiful and you just want to run around on them. There are all these weird little coves and rock formations that are the product of hundreds of thousands of years of erosion, but the amazing thing- you never see other people. Cause it's such a big country with only about 3 million people living there.

What are the essentials that you can’t leave home without?

I spend so much time traveling for work that I think I've become a really adept tourist, when I'm traveling for tourist reasons. I bring my passport, I bring my laptop, I bring some credit cards, and an iPod, and that's it. Everything else I need I buy there. I'm not the most fashionable person in the world, so I buy jeans, and a sweatshirt, and a t-shirt, and you can get this anywhere, and so that way I never need to travel with clothes, so I have a little backpack. So, even if I'm going away for three months, I just go with a backpack and my passport and I'm fine. Also, I don't have hair, so in terms of grooming, I'm very low-maintenance.
