An American Airlines flight on Monday from Miami to Chicago was diverted to Jacksonville shortly after takeoff due to a soda spill.

Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines, told Jacksonville.com that a soft drink splashed on an electronic device in the main cabin. Preston Wake, 43, a passenger, said a flight attendant fumbled a soda that soaked him.

“I can’t really tell you how far it went, but I was soaked,” Wake told the paper. “I had to change my clothes and everything.”

Wake praised the crew and airport staff for accommodating the passengers.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that about 150 people were on board the Boeing 737 and landed at Jacksonville International Airport at 4:45 a.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
