4 theme parks that celebrate the Fourth of July with food, fun and fireworks

Disney World isn't the only theme park you can catch a great fireworks show on the Fourth. (Disney)

The average Fourth of July celebration usually involves quality time with family, sparklers, and a healthy serving of Aunt Susie’s potato salad.

But if you’re craving something different, try taking the family on a relaxing holiday to a theme park, where the whole gang can celebrate the Fourth with rollercoasters, live entertainment and — of course — fireworks!

Kings Dominion

Kings Dominion, located just twenty miles north of Richmond in Doswell, Va., has over 60 rides as well as a 20-acre water park, and their Star Spangled Celebration is being held June 30 through July 4. Some of the highlights include their biggest fireworks show of the season (held each night of the event), and plenty of live entertainment. Admission is also free to all active, retired or honorably discharged military personnel (valid ID required).

Tickets start at $45.

Walt Disney World

I think it’s safe to say that Walt Disney World has mastered the magic of a stellar fireworks show. The Magic Kingdom and Epcot will not disappoint this Fourth, when Disney’s “Celebrate America! Epcot will also pay tribute to our nation with “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” attraction, as well as special “Voices of Liberty” performances inside American Adventure held throughout the day.
