GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Police in New York are looking for a great actor. Spalding Gray vanished over the weekend. Gray's wife and mentor Kathie Russo joins us from their home in North Haven, New York.

Welcome, Kathie.

KATHIE RUSSO, SPALDING GRAY'S WIFE: Thank you, Greta.

VAN SUSTEREN: Kathie, I guess it's safe to assume that there is no word tonight, and he hasn't been located, right?

RUSSO: Yes. I'm sorry to say we have not heard anything new.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. Let's go back to his disappearance. When was he last heard from?

RUSSO: Around 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening. He called in to our loft to check on the kids and told our 6-year-old son that he would be back soon and that he loved him.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say where he had been or where he was making the call from?

RUSSO: Well, I was out working that night, and our 17-year-old daughter was baby sitting our 6-year-old, and he told both of them -- and he had told me when I called in earlier -- that he was going to meet an old friend for drinks and that he'd be back around 9:00.

VAN SUSTEREN: And I take it he didn't name the old friend to the 17- year-old or to the younger child?

RUSSO: No, he did. He did to all of us. And, of course, so then when I got home, he wasn't there, and I called our friend, and he said, "I haven't heard from him all day."

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. Was it unusual for him to call and say "I love you" to the child? Was that any sort of signal, or is that just a routine phone call?

RUSSO: No. That's a routine phone call for the most part.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. He was involved in an automobile accident in Ireland in 2001. After that time, he developed some problems, didn't he?

RUSSO: Yes, absolutely. He had about five different operations. He had terrible head injury fracture where he had right frontal lobe damage, not, you know, permanent damage but trauma.

There are literally hundreds of pieces of bone that had to be taken, you know, out of his brain from this fracture, and they put a metal plate in his head.

And, after that operation, that shifted, and just this past summer, he had total reconstructive surgery on that.

The other thing is that, yes, he has suffered depression since the accident, but he also has this metal plate in his head. And he was told if he had any other blows to his head, he could really suffer, you know, more damage to it. You know, I'm thinking amnesia or something like that.

VAN SUSTEREN: Is there anything besides that health problem, I mean to suggest perhaps even like a robbery on the street or foul play or anything peculiar that you've heard that -- so we can sort of at least try to isolate what might be the reason?

RUSSO: No. Well, he had an American Express card on him. It's been completely inactive. He didn't have that much cash on him, about $120, and he usually goes out of the house without a wallet. He just, you know, takes some cash and one credit card.

What concerns us is that he told us he was meeting our friend and didn't, and we don't know why. You know, why would he lie about meeting someone?

VAN SUSTEREN: I also read that the night before, on Friday, he may have been spotted on the Staten Island Ferry. Does that give you any more information at all?

RUSSO: Well, I think it's well documented now that Spalding was suicidal, you know, since the accident, and one of the episodes was that he was on the ferry. But he was just -- you know, he left me a message, and I called the police right away, and they just saw him sitting on the ferry.

So there is this thing about going to the ferry for him, and I think it's pretty much confirmed that he was on the Staten Island Ferry Friday between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. Well, we have put up on the screen for the viewers a tip line, Kathie, because I know we want to get that information out. If the viewers have seen anything or know anything about Spalding Gray, a very talented actor, call that number. And, Kathie, best of luck to you.

RUSSO: Thank you very much.
