Yahoo Launches Investing Columns

Internet media company Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) Monday said it launched business columns from nine writers on its finance page, expanding its offering of original content.

The columns will cover topics that include personal finance, economic trends and investing -- another shift for Yahoo toward adding its own content to offerings from wire services, newspapers and other media on its site.

The launch of the columns follows an announcement by the company earlier this month that it has hired veteran war correspondent Kevin Sites to cover conflicts from around the world.

At the time of the announcement, Yahoo said it planned similar ventures in other news and information categories. It already has original content in its sports categories.

The new finance columns -- which come in addition to a Suze Orman (search) column "Money Matters" that began in February 2004 -- will be written by a team of well-known authors, economists, and financial advisors.

The new columnists include David Bach, Stephen Covey, Ken Dychtwald, Robert Kiyosaki, Daniel Pink, Laura Rowley, Jeremy Siegel, Ben Stein (search), and Charles Wheelan.

The columns will appear on a biweekly or monthly basis.

Shares of Yahoo were up 24 cents at $32.36 in Nasdaq trade.
