Vaccine Recall Includes 27,200 Doses in New Hampshire

The latest swine flu vaccine recall includes more than 27,000 doses that were distributed in New Hampshire.

Federal health officials announced Tuesday that drugmaker MedImmune is recalling nearly 5 million doses of its vaccine because the nasal spray appears to lose strength over time.

New Hampshire's public health director, Dr. Jose Montero, said Wednesday that 27,200 doses were distributed to 124 New Hampshire providers in October and November, and most have already been administered. Officials say the slight decrease in potency is not expected to affect the protective power of the vaccine.

New Hampshire has had nine deaths related to swine flu but Montero says the disease is no longer widespread.
