KUWAIT CITY – Turkey's foreign minister said Monday his country will pursue political solutions before it sends troops into northern Iraq to fight Kurdish rebels attacking it from their rear bases there.
"We will continue these diplomatic efforts with all good intentions to solve this problem caused by a terrorist organization," Ali Babacan told reporters in comments translated from Turkish into Arabic. "But in the end, if we do not reach any results, there are other means we might have to use."
Babacan spoke after talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheik Mohammed Al Sabah. The Turkish foreign minister has been touring Arab countries to explain his country's plans towards Kurdish guerrilla attacks emanating from northern Iraq.
