Authorities say a stolen car crash has left two children critically injured.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says a sport utility vehicle reported stolen in Torrance refused to stop at a sobriety checkpoint in Long Beach at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The SUV drove through the checkpoint and caused a three-car crash in neighboring Bellflower.

Sgt. Chris Neeper says two cousins, a 6-year-old Los Angeles girl and a 10-year-old boy from Paramount, were in a car that was struck. They were hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities say three Carson men in the SUV ran but were arrested. The 19-year-old driver was booked for hit-and-run driving causing injury or death. His friends were held for taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
