Stimulus Bill Buys Pork... Literally

A quick trip around Hannity's America...

Porkfest!

Your tax dollars are being used to buy a lot of pork and I mean literally! The government's Recovery.gov Web site reports that the stimulus money has been dolled out for the following:

• $2.5 million to Los Angeles for "ham, water added, cooked, frozen and sliced"

• Another $1.1 million to L.A. for "two pounds frozen ham, sliced"

• $16.7 million to Minnesota for "canned pork"

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was quick to defend the ham purchases, saying that all that ham is going to food banks and soup kitchens: "The references to two-pound frozen ham sliced are the sizes of the packaging... In fact the contract in question purchased 760,000 pounds of ham for $1.19 million at a cost of approximately $1.50 per pound."

By the way, Tom, the ham you've been paying $1.50 for actually costs 79 cents in most grocery stores. Thanks for being so careful with our stimulus money.

Selling Obama Care

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius made an appearance on "Meet the Press" Sunday. She was asked whether the wealthiest Americans will have to shoulder the burden for nanny state health care. Her response is the subject of Liberal Translation:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KATHLEEN SEBELIUS, HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SECRETARY: Well, I think both the House and Senate bills are contemplating some responsibility that both — that everyone would have a responsibility to have health insurance.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: We'll slap them with a fat fee if they don't!

SEBELIUS: That business owners would have a responsibility to provide health insurance. And that the government would do their fair share.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Fair share, n: tax the people into submission.

SEBELIUS: We're also hoping that that personal responsibility extends to lifestyle. That in order to have a healthier America, more productive America, we need to make some basic changes in what we eat, how much we exercise.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: If you don't like our health care bill, you'll love the diet we've got in store for you!

SEBELIUS: Getting our kids up off the couch, turning off the video games. But that's a personal responsibility that all of us have.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Health care first. We'll parent your children next.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

I can't wait for the secretary of Health and Human Services to turn off the video games at my house and gets my kids off the couch. Sounds just like the sort of government our Founding Fathers envisioned, don't you think?

Threat to Dems

Liberals appear to be concerned about their chances in both the 2010 and 2012 elections, and as a result, have decided to go after some up-and-coming stars of the GOP. Now take a look at this brand-new liberal attack ad:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I, Sarah L. Palin do solemnly swear.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I, Kelly Ayotte do solumenly swear.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I, Charles J. Crist, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend and protect the constitution in government.

(CROSSTALK)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Impartially discharge my duties.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So help me God.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So help me God.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So help me God.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

If considering a run for a higher office or answering a call to serve your country makes you a quitter, this ad should include almost every member of the president's Cabinet and Barack Obama himself.

No Liberals Allowed

Actress and liberal activist Janeane Garofalo gave BBC radio an interesting analysis of the American media over the weekend. You'll love this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JANEANE GAROFALO, ACTRESS: Mostly the media in the states is much more to the right. I mean there is almost no liberal outlet for news commentary or editorializing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

She's right. I've noticed Barack Obama has a tough time getting good coverage!
