Star Style: Best Dressed of 2008

Happy almost New Year, my fellow fashionistas!

With 2009 a hop, skip and a jump away, I started to reminisce about all of the wonderful and oh-so-fashionable moments we've shared— style dos, don'ts and naturally our celebrity favorites! The red carpet was abuzz all year with beautiful gowns, stars coming out of their style shells, and of course a fashionable flower or two who blossomed in front of our very own eyes. Here is my list of the most stylish stars of 2008!

Gwyneth Paltrow

She's baaack! And it's about time. This Oscar winner has proven to be a fashion disaster the last few years, wearing an out-of-date and overgrown hairstyle and ill-fitting outfits. Whether it's the rumors of her marital woes or maybe the influence of her very own website, goop.com (where she gives advice on all things lifestyle including fashion), GP is back with a new stylish bob and a series of fashion forward ensembles. My favorite was her black Chanel gown with a somewhat plunging neckline and bow details. Gorgeous!

Katherine Heigl

Oh, if only her attitude was as good as her style! Katherine Heigl may have complained about her scripts on Grey's and her chauvinist storyline in Knocked Up, but gosh darn it, she looked great every step of her ornery way. Especially in Escada at the Oscars this year, Kat looked old Hollywood stunning!

Anne Hathaway

I love her! Do you not love her? Bad taste in men aside, she's beautiful, seemingly sweet, and very talented. But stylish? Oy. Up until this year this star struggled, wearing frumpy frocks that were way to mature. Even at the Oscars in Marchesa, Anne looked like she wore her mother's dress. And then it happened. Raffaello broke her heart, a great haircut followed, and our girl became a princess over night. Looking young, modern and elegant at the same time, Anne rocked the red carpet in an Oscar de la Renta knee-length dress that was like a cloud!

Katie Holmes

It literally seems like Katie went from Joey Potter to Mrs. Cruise over night! Though her daughter may be an alien and her husband is totally off the charts, the Cruise union did do miracles for this starlet’s style. With a new bob, new friends (Posh, anyone?) and a new gig on Broadway, Katie’s style could have gone either way. Lucky for her, she looks fabulous. At Tom’s Tropic Thunder premiere, Katie made her debut as a style goddess in a sexy halter neck style she co-designed with Jeanne Yang. As she should (as a young star with a career and Hollywood husband) Katie has continued to take chances with fashion! I for one am proud.

Rihanna

Probably the most cutting edge singer out there, Rihanna not only tops the charts but tops my list as one of the best dressed this year. She moves with ease from hot leather stage costumes to soft and fluid red carpet styles. She wore my favorite dress this year at the BET awards, a canary yellow floor length gown with tiered ruffles from Giambattista Valli. Looking like a ray of sunshine, this songstress left her Umbrella, -ella, -ella, -eh eh..." home.

Taylor Swift

I sympathize with Hollywood ’s youth. They become famous so young and hover between teenage-hood and adulthood resulting in a schizophrenic style that’s either too demure or too sexy. (Glad I got that off my chest.) One star however, has managed to consistently look glamorous with looking too va-va-va voom, pretty without looking like Dame Edna dresses her. 19 year old, Taylor Swift has come out as country music’s most fashionable star! She wowed me at the CMA’s in her Kaufman Franco, gorgeous, v-neck style. Rock on T!

Ok, so now for the really fun part! Check out my list of worst dressed stars of 2008 at The Style Guide. As always, happy shopping!
