Sharon Osbourne to Undergo Chemo

NEW YORK – Sharon Osbourne has revealed that her colon cancer has spread.

Ozzy Osbourne's wife, who shot to stardom in The Osbourne's, will start a three-month course of chemotherapy at the end of July and will allow MTV to film the treatment for the second season of the hit reality show, according to an interview with People magazine.

Sharon, who had surgery for colon cancer on July 3, says she freaked out when she was diagnosed, and that Ozzy was so distraught he had to be sedated.

"My stomach sank. I was in shock. My kids were in shock. [Ozzy] was hysterical, just terrified," she told People magazine. "The doctor had to come over and sedate him."

In the interview she said that one of the lymph nodes removed during surgery tested positive for cancerous cells, although she said her prognosis is good.

Ozzy's gutsy wife says the brush with her own mortality has caused her to realize how precious life is.

"You think nothing will ever happen to you — you're invincible. Then, after you get over the shock and the panic, you realize how lucky you are to be alive," she said.

Sharon, 49, has been married to Ozzy for 21 years and they have three children together. She seems to be using her trademark humor to deal with the tough situation.

"Why'd they have to find [the cancer] in my bum of all places? It's embarrassing," Sharon told People. "I mean, why couldn't they have found a cute, heart-shaped polyp on my vagina?"

Ozzy says the news of Sharon's cancer, which he learned about while rehearsing for his annual metal show, "Ozzfest," tore him apart.

"I completely lost it," he admits.

Sharon lost so much blood during her four-hour operation that she needed a three-pint transfusion. But less than a week later, she was pampering herself with a manicure.
