Say What?

It would be hilarious, if it weren't so alarming! I'm talking about the assertion made Thursday by the spokesman for Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry. Here it is:

"Saudi Arabia has nothing to hide. We're not in the business of funding terrorism. We're not in the business of funding murder. We want to be as transparent as possible."

What?

Of course, the official position of the Saudi government is not to fund terrorists. But powerful Saudi princes privately have been doing so, according to analyst Mansoor Ijaz.

And the Saudi government is in the business of funding Wahhabi extremists, who absolutely, positively are part of the terrorist structure.

And the Saudi government transparent? You must be joking.

It's time we hold politicians' feet to the fire about the Saudis. The War on Terror will only be won when we see much better cooperation from the Saudis.
