Reality Check: Foreshadowing Future Fireworks on 'The Hills'
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}It was more foreshadowing than fighting on "The Hills" this week, as the groundwork was laid for fireworks to come.
Whitney Port seems to be adjusting to her new bi-coastal lifestyle quite nicely as her first business trip nets her an impromptu date with a model who is also a Columbia University graduate (who knew those even existed?)
Granted, she was embarrassingly set up by her crazy boss, but they handled the awkwardness like champs and still managed to have some decent conversation (take notes, Lauren Conrad). The date ended with a long walk, a goodnight hug and a definite spark or two.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Lauren also had a few sparks flying at a dinner of her own, but unfortunately it wasn’t with new beau Doug Reinhardt. On the contrary, it was a night out with former flame Brody Jenner, where she actually dished on how she’s not that into Doug, whom she later dumps.
It’s sad, since Doug is super-cute and seems like a really great guy, but it’s also easy to understand why there are no fireworks there: Brody’s still hogging them all.
No one seems to be more aware of this than Brody, who not only predicted that Lauren and Doug wouldn’t last but also seems pretty confident and he’s still got a shot.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“Are you talking about you and me getting naked?” he asks. “I hate you,” she replies. Notice she didn’t say “No.”
But not to worry: it doesn’t seem like Doug will be mourning Lauren’s loss for long, as previews show he’ll be moving on to Stephanie Pratt. This girl could write the book on how to get on and stay on “The Hills.” She finds a way to be “stuck in the middle of” (read: instigate) as many feuds as possible, and when they get boring, she just makes some drama of her own. I’m willing to bet there’s little fire between Doug and Stephanie, but plenty that comes with the fallout.
Of course, once that fizzles she can always just go back to being the middleman between her brother Spencer Pratt and his girlfriend Heidi Montag. I think it’s safe to say that they’ll be heading for battle in the near future.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Then, of course, there are Lo Bosworth and Audrina Patridge, whose absence from this episode can only mean that next one will feature them in all-out war. Whether Audrina moves out or L.C. takes sides remains to be seen. But fireworks are guaranteed, with the sparks surely flying around Lauren.
