Puff Daddy Settles Suit Over Biggie Tribute

Quick — which song was used as part of the Puff Daddy tribute to murdered rapper Notorious B.I.G.?

Actually, it's a trick question. While most people know that Puffy produced the song using the words and music of "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, there are also eight words from the gospel song "I'll Fly Away."

While most folks may not have noticed that little fact, the publisher of that song sure did — and took the rapper to court.

The two sides have now reached agreement in federal court on a royalties deal. No word on how much the settlement was for.

But the song sold 11 million copies — and based on the basic rate for royalties, the publishers would have gotten more than $800,000 from sales alone.
