Obama Criticizes Defense Spending

A quick trip around Hannity's America...
No Spending on That!
Big news, America: President Obama has found some federal spending he doesn't like.

Defense spending.
The president made the announcement in a speech Monday before the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: The impulse in Washington to protect jobs back home, building things we don't need, has a cost that we can't afford. And this waste would be unacceptable at any time. But at a time when we're fighting two wars and facing a serious deficit, it is inexcusable.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
Hold on a second, isn't the stimulus all about creating jobs at home by building things we don't need? Isn't the whole premise that spending is stimulus?
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}
I think I remember somebody saying that very thing.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM FEB. 5, 2009)
OBAMA: Well, then you get the argument, well, this is not a stimulus bill, this is a spending bill. What do you think a stimulus is? That's the whole point. No, seriously. That's the point.

Oh, I get it. I guess that's only true when it comes to pointless domestic projects like skate parks, not our national defense.
Not That Gullible

By now most Americans are familiar with President Obama's promise to cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans, after all he says it over and over again.

(AUGUST 28, 2008)

OBAMA: I will cut taxes. Cut taxes for 95 percent of all working families.
(FEBRUARY 24, 2009)
OBAMA: In fact, the recovery plan provides a tax cut. That's right. A tax cut for 95 percent of working families.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}
(AUGUST 15, 2009)
OBAMA: The only tax policies I have implemented for middle-class families is a tax cut for 95 percent of working families.

But does anybody actually believe him?
A new poll suggests that the answer is no. The Power Line blog points out the latest Rasmussen survey which asked Americans if they expect their taxes to go up, down or stay the same.
Under President Obama, only 6 percent of people said that they expect a tax cut, while a whopping 82 percent said that they expect their taxes to increase or stay the same.

It's really sad when the vast majority of the people who voted for you don't even believe you'd deliver on those promises.
Seeing the Light
Health care reform isn't the only issue the Democrats have lost control of. You can add cap-and-tax to the list as well.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}
A prominent Democrat is slamming his own party for pushing the climate change legislation. Former Colorado Senator Timothy Wirth, who later served as President Clinton's climate change negotiator, says the bill flat-out makes no sense.
In a rare interview with Bloomberg, he said, "The Republicans are right. It is a cap-and-tax bill. That's what it is because they are raising revenue to do all sorts of things."
You heard it here first, folks: A Democrat actually thinks the Republicans are right!

Big Talker
The White House has built its health care town halls as a chance for President Obama to hear from the American people. But a closer look at last week's event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, reveals the only person Barack Obama is interested in hearing from is actually himself.
FOXNews.com reports that around 10,000 words were spoken in New Hampshire, 8,000 of which came from the president's mouth. That means he spoke almost 90 percent of the time.

I guess when he says he wants to go it alone, that's what he really means.
For Thee, Not We...
President Obama is financing offshore oil drilling in Brazil!
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Obama administration OK'd the $2 billion loan to Brazil's state-controlled oil company. That money will finance the exploration of a huge offshore drilling project.
So drilling off our own shores is too environmentally damaging, but not off the shores of Brazil?
Sounds like classic Democratic reasoning to me.
