New Delay Sought in Guantanamo Bay War Crimes Case
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Military prosecutors have asked a judge at Guantanamo Bay for another continuance in the war crimes case against a Sudanese detainee.
Office of Military Commissions spokesman Joseph DellaVedova says defense lawyers did not object to the request at Wednesday's hearing for Noor Uthman Muhammed. The judge at the U.S. Navy base in Cuba did not immediately issue a ruling.
Prosecutors in pending Guantanamo cases have been asking judges to delay them until at least Nov. 16, the government's self-imposed deadline for deciding how and where they might proceed. President Barack Obama has pledged to close the prison by January.
