LOS ANGELES – Kirsten Dunst (search) and Jake Gyllenhaal (search), the young stars of two of Hollywood's biggest summer movies, have ended their romance.
Dunst, the co-star of "Spider-Man 2," (search) and Gyllenhaal, who appeared in the disaster epic "The Day After Tomorrow," have gone their separate ways, his publicist, Annett Wolf, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Wolf would not provide details of why they stopped dating, but confirmed they broke up "some time ago." Dunst's representative, Stephen Huvane, did not immediately return a call for comment.
"It's been a while, but they have remained the best of friends," Wolf said.
The 22-year-old Dunst and 23-year-old Gyllenhaal began dating about two years ago after being introduced by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, who appeared with Dunst in "Mona Lisa Smile."
