HOLLAND, Mich. – Family members are clinging to memories of a 15-month-old West Michigan girl who apparently suffocated beneath her grandmother when the woman suffered a seizure and blacked out.
The Grand Rapids Press reported today that Marley Anne Orsted died July 15 during a visit to her grandmother's home in Goshen, Ind.
Stacey Orsted said her daughter and mother-in-law were alone when the older woman had an epileptic seizure and fell on the girl before regaining consciousness about two hours later.
Orsted said authorities could find no other injuries to the girl and think she suffocated.
Marley was to spend a few days with her grandmother in Goshen, about 95 miles south of Grand Rapids.
Brad Orsted said his mother has had epilepsy for about 30 years, but manages it with medication.
