Charlton Heston and Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Riley were in Mobile Friday morning on one of three planned campaign stops in which the actor and activist was to appear with the congressman.
Other campaign rallies were also to be held in Oxford and Huntsville.
Heston attended a morning breakfast event at the Adam's Mark Hotel. About 250 people attended the $100-a-plate affair.

Michael Davis, director of the Alabama Republican Party's Victory 2002 Campaign, said funds generated from the events will be given to GOP candidates running for local offices.
At noon, the 78-year-old Heston was being honored at a rally in Oxford, followed by a late afternoon rally in Huntsville. Both north Alabama rallies were free and open to the public, although separate private fund-raisers were planned in those cities.
Heston is serving his fourth term as president of the National Rifle Association.
