A woman who neighbors say was within weeks of giving birth has been killed in a barrage of bullets in Pittsburgh.

Police say 18-year-old Shavaughn Wallace died late Friday night after she was shot in the back on the central north side of the city.

Commander Thomas Stangrecki says Wallace was in a vehicle talking to friends when a man emerged from a vacant lot and shot at the crowd. He says two of the vehicles were struck by bullets, including the one Wallace was sitting in.

Stangrecki says Wallace got out of the car and began running toward a house when she was shot.

A neighbor told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that she heard multiple rounds of quick gunfire and heard a car speeding away.

No arrests have been made.
