Ginni Thomas Says Democrats in Power Are Imposing Tyranny

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: The Anointed One has gained a new and outspoken critic. She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and the founder of a new group that aims to restore government to its rightful place in American life.

And joining me now to tell us why she thinks the president and his party are imposing tyranny is the president and CEO of Liberty Central, Ginni Thomas.

Ginni, good to see you. Welcome to the program. Glad you're with us.

GINNI THOMAS, WIFE OF JUSTICE CLARENCE THOMAS: It's such an honor. Thank you for having me.

HANNITY: Well, we appreciate you being here. You say some really powerful things that I agree with. I've never seen anything like it. The Democrats are not listening to the people. You've never seen, or witnessed what we see going on right now. We're either going to be self-governed or ruled.

When I read that, I thought we're supposed to have government of, by and for the people.

THOMAS: Right.

HANNITY: Seems that this administration is so often willing to go against the will of the people. Why?

THOMAS: Absolutely. I mean, you know, when they campaigned, they campaigned on hope and change, and so many people could buy into that argument. But they didn't look at, when they came to Washington, you know, it has to become black and white on paper and legislation to actually pass hope and change. And that's when we've got a chance to see, we're talking about a massive power grab to Washington, where they can pick winners and losers. And we're either self-governed or ruled; citizens or subjects.

HANNITY: You know, you said something interesting. You said that Capitol Hill, the White House and their control has resulted in tyranny. And you go on to explain it in more detail. It's actually a term a mutual friend of ours, Mark Levin, wrote about in his great book, about you know, hard tyranny and soft tyranny. What did you mean by that statement?

THOMAS: Well, you know, I listen to the Great One too oftentimes. And so I must admit that soft tyranny and hard tyranny, he's driven it into me when I drive home at night, I must admit, Sean.

HANNITY: You don't do — you don't do the imitation — "Thank me, God bless us. How am I?" — like I do?

I try — but — but when I read your comments and then I saw the video of you, I wondered, considering the position of your husband, did you have to think twice about being so outspoken?

THOMAS: Well, I appreciate that. You know, there have been conflicts ever since Clarence became a justice, you know, 19 years ago. And I've been in this field for 30 years working in the policy arena, so it's not so new. I'm not litigating. I'm not in the courtroom. So there are clear rules. And I abide by them, and I watch for them, and I watch for conflicts. So there's a lot of judicial wives and husbands out there causing trouble. I'm just one of many.

HANNITY: You know, you talk about how the left ridicules people that they don't like and they don't agree with. And it's because there's a grassroot movement going on.

And you specifically talk about Governor Palin, the Tea Party movement. As I was reading your comments, I also thought about — about what they did to your husband, Justice Thomas, and how viciously and unfairly he was attacked. Do you see similarities?

THOMAS: Absolutely. Well, you've seen it, too, Sean. You know what the left does when they're after you or they see you as a threat.

And so I have to say I'm not intimidated by these people. I've seen them before. They're after me now sometimes. And so we're not going to be dissuaded. We are in the fight for our country's life. And we've got to make a big impact in the November election. So we've all got to do whatever we can.

So LibertyCentral.org will be a place where, with three to five minutes of investment of time a day, we can raise citizen voices to inspire and listen and activate citizens to preserve our country.

HANNITY: See, I think there's a conservative ascendancy emerging in the country. I think — I think that the left and one-party rule, they misinterpreted the election results. And as a result there is this backlash. There is this conservative ascendancy, an idea to get back to first principles, things that you talk about at length here.

Do you have — how much hope do you have for November? What are your thoughts about — about where we are 148 days out?

THOMAS: Well, I didn't see all of it. I think I agree with Dick Morris, who was just on your show. I think the House and the Senate will change. I do think that. And — and I think Washington doesn't hear as clearly as those of us who are listening with our ears to the ground. So there's 57 million people out there. They're coming our way.
