Firing Reportedly Recommended for 2 BART Cops in Deadly New Year's Day Shooting

Investigators recommended that two San Francisco-area transit cops be fired for their part in a fatal New Year's Day shooting of an unarmed passenger, KTVU said in an exclusive report.
The recommendation to terminate Bay Area Rapid Transit officers Tony Pirone and Marysol Domenici came from a law firm hired by BART to do the investigation, according to the TV station.
BART Officer Johannes Mehserle allegedly shot and killed unarmed passenger Oscar Grant III on a subway platform last Jan. 1. Mehserle resigned from the force and faces trial for murder.

Pirone and Domenici, who are partners, were the first officers to appear on the scene after Grant was pulled off the train, reportedly for fighting.
Video of the incident appears to show Pirone punching or elbowing Grant before the shooting. Both Pirone and Domenici have been on paid leave ever since the incident.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}An 8-page public report released in August condemned the two BART cops, but the recommendation that they be fired was kept under wraps, KTVU said.
Mehserle's lawyer says his client meant to use his Taser, not his pistol.
