HARTFORD, Conn. – A right-wing blogger from New Jersey who is accused of encouraging his audience to harm two Connecticut lawmakers surrendered Thursday to state Capitol Police.
Harold "Hal" Turner of North Bergen, N.J., is accused of using his blog to incite readers "to take up arms" against Sen. Andrew McDonald and Rep. Michael Lawlor.
Police said the 47-year-old Turner was angry over controversial legislation dealing with Roman Catholic parish finances.
He was charged with one count of inciting injury to persons or property, and released after posting a $25,000 bond. He is due in court on June 22.
His lawyers issued a statement saying that while many people disagree with Turner's view's his First-Amendment rights need to be protected.
