Elderly Couple Dies in Murder-Suicide in Illinois Cemetery

Authorities are investigating the apparent murder-suicide of an elderly couple found at Fort Sheridan Cemetery in northern Illinois.
Lake County Forest Preserve Police Chief John Tannahill says officers responded to a report of shots fired around noon Thursday. They found a man and a woman shot and a vehicle parked nearby.
Tannahill says investigators believe the man shot the woman, then turned the gun on himself.

Lake County Coroner Richard Keller says both bodies had a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victims are not being identified because relatives have not been notified. No autopsies are planned.
Fort Sheridan Cemetery is located in a forest preserve that was once part of a U.S. Army base. The cemetery remains federal land.
