WASHINGTON – Vice presidential candidate John Edwards (search) was treated like a celebrity Monday on his first visit to the Kerry-Edwards campaign headquarters, with campaign workers shrieking, cheering and whistling.
The North Carolina senator was spending much of the day in meetings with campaign officials.
"Not bad, not bad," Edwards said of the reception.
Edwards and his wife Elizabeth personally greeted many of the hundred or so campaign workers who were on hand.
The campaign occupies several floors of a downtown Washington office building.
Edwards returned to Washington on Sunday after a four-day debut campaign swing with Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. He begins his solo campaign trip on Wednesday that will take him to Iowa, Illinois, California, Texas, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina.
