VAIL, Colo. – The search for two people last seen hiking toward the 14,005-foot summit of Mount of the Holy Cross near Vail will continue.
Rescue team members looking for the hikers last seen around 3:30 p.m. Monday at about 13,500 feet found two people late Tuesday. But they weren't the missing pair.
Dan Smith of the Vail Mountain Rescue Group says the two hikers found Tuesday were injured — one with a head injury, the other with a knee injury. They were unrelated to the missing people.
Rescuers were walking down with the injured pair.
Eagle County sheriff's officials say a Black Hawk helicopter from the Colorado National Guard High Altitude Aviation Training Center will help by dropping search teams into the area and by searching from the air.
