CHICAGO – Police continue to search for the killer of a teacher who conducted the choir at a well-known church where presidential hopeful Barack Obama is a member.
Donald Young was found unresponsive by police early Sunday. The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide. An autopsy found the 47-year-old Young suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Chicago Police spokesman Wayne Frisbie said Tuesday the victim's roommate returned to the apartment late Saturday and discovered Young shot in the head. The front door to the apartment was closed but unlocked, Frisbie said.
The Reverend Jeremiah Wright Junior said Young was well-loved at Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama, a Democrat, is a member of the congregation.
Young also taught fourth grade and was planning to attend graduate school to become a school principal, Wright said.
Funeral services for Young are scheduled for Thursday.
