Chicago Nabs Groucho Marx Glasses Guinness Record

A group of movie-goers sporting black-rimmed glasses, bushy eyebrows and mustaches have snagged a Guinness World Record for Chicago.

Mayor Richard Daley says he hopes this is the first of many Chicago record-breakers.

Guinness has verified the 4,436 Chicagoans who attended a July viewing of "Duck Soup" set the record for "most people wearing Groucho Marx glasses."

The glasses are a tribute to comedian Julius Henry "Groucho" Marx of the Marx brothers. "Duck Soup" has become a classic Marx Brothers movie.

The record was previously held by 4,077 attendants at a Mid-America Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Springfield, Mo. Executive director Janna LaCock says she is sure her group will respond to reclaim the record.
