DAYTON, Ohio – A former cellmate of an Ohio woman convicted of killing her baby daughter by burning her in a microwave oven has recanted her testimony and says she can't remember if the mother admitted to putting the baby in the oven.
Linda Williams recanted her trial testimony Monday at a hearing in Dayton on China Arnold's motion for a new trial.
Williams says Arnold never told her she put the baby in the oven and that she falsely testified at Arnold's trial because she was afraid of prosecutors and police.
But Williams also testified Monday that she had been on psychiatric medications and couldn't remember what Arnold had said.
Arnold denies killing 28-day-old Paris Talley in August 2005.
The hearing is to continue Wednesday.
