Bomb Blast Kills 6 South of Baghdad

An Iraqi Interior Ministry official says at least six people are dead after a two-pronged bomb attack south of Baghdad that was apparently designed to ambush bystanders.
The official says the first bomb went off with no casualties Friday in the village of Qaragoul, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Baghdad. Then as people gathered, a nearby car bomb exploded, killing at least six people and wounding 20.
The official says two policemen are among the dead. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to give information to media.

The area south of Baghdad was once a Sunni insurgent stronghold known as the "Triangle of Death" for its frequent bloodshed.
