LOS ANGELES – This time it's not make believe.
Hunky heartthrob Ben Affleck, who played a recovering alcoholic in last year's Bounce, has entered a live-in rehabilitation facility for alcohol abuse.
The 28-year-old Oscar winner voluntarily entered the Promises rehabilitation facility in Malibu, Calif. on Tuesday. It's the same place where comedian Paula Poundstone and troubled actor Robert Downey Jr. are undergoing treatment.
A statement issued from Affleck's publicist David Pollick said, "Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol. He has chosen to seek out professional assistance and is committed to traveling a healthier road with the support of his family, friends and fans."
Other films include Chasing Amy, Dogma, Armageddon, Dazed and Confused and Good Will Hunting, for which he shared a writing Oscar with friend Matt Damon.
