American Pedophile Arrested by Israeli Police

Israeli police say they have arrested a convicted American pedophile who has been hiding in Israel for eight years.

Police say they seized Samuel Arthur Silverman in the coastal city of Netanya. They say Silverman is wanted by the FBI for sexually abusing two boys in Oregon in 1997.

Silverman pleaded guilty to sex abuse charges in his hometown of Ashland, Oregon, back in 1997. But the former social worker fled the state before going to prison, and later made his way to Israel.

Israeli police say they caught Silverman after Interpol told them his wife was flying to Israel to visit him. Police followed the woman to his home and arrested him.

Police declined to say when he was nabbed, but said he would be extradited to the U.S.
