Thirty-four people in New Jersey and New York have been charged in what authorities say was a sports betting ring run by the mob.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says detectives seized $1.2 million in raids across northern New Jersey and New York's Westchester County.
Molinelli says the operation took bets through Web sites and used a "wire room" in Costa Rica to try to steer clear of U.S. law enforcement.

The prosecutor says part of the profits were passed to the Genovese organized crime family.
An insurance executive, a mailman and a food vendor who worked at Yankee Stadium were among those charged.
