Two people were found dead in a hotel room after a chemical incident, emergency services said.

Police and fire services were called to the Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park, north London, Sunday afternoon.

The hotel was evacuated.

"We are treating this as a confirmed chemical incident," a spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said. The hotel has been evacuated and cordon implemented."

She said the substance involved was not known at this point.

The bodies are still at the scene, police said.

"Police were called at 11.53 a.m. today to Costello Palace Hotel, Seven Sisters Road, N4, after two people were found deceased," a police spokeswoman told Sky News. The bodies remain at the scene. We await confirmation regarding their sexes and cause of death."
