2 Children Taken From Phoenix Home Found Unharmed, Suspects at Large
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Two young children snatched from a Phoenix home in an apparent double kidnapping early Tuesday morning were found hours later, but a manhunt was under way for the four armed suspects who took them, KSAZ reported.
No one was in custody Tuesday afternoon, and authorities were investigating a motive for the abduction.
Phoenix police said a group of four men wielding weapons forcibly entered the house and took a 2-year-old boy and an 11-month-old girl.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The children were dropped off about five hours later unharmed at a house in south Phoenix. Authorities returned them to their parents.
Phoenix Sgt. Andy Hill said a witness heard the men yelling that they were the police as they burst into the home.
Police do not think the mother of the children knew the suspects and say the abduction may have happened during an attempted robbery.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Phoenix has earned a reputation as America's kidnapping capital. Immigrant and drugs smugglers snatch rivals, associates or their family members as a way to collect unpaid debt for lost trafficking loads or make quick money from crews flush with cash.
Hill says it's not known whether Tuesday's kidnapping was tied to smugglers.
