New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez fractured his left hand during Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
The injury occurred in the eighth after Rodriguez was drilled on the hand by Hernandez. Rodriguez was the third and final hit batsman by Hernandez in a span of five batters.
Rodriguez will head to the 15-day disabled list.

"He's got a non-displaced fracture," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "Until Dr. Ahmad sees him I won't comment...He's been swinging the bat really good too."
The 36-year-old Rodriguez is hitting .274 with 15 homers and 44 RBI in 93 games with New York this season.
Eric Chavez, who had a similar injury and missed eight weeks, will replace Rodriguez at third.

"Al (Rodriguez) is so important to our team. This is definitely going to hurt," Chavez said.
